Prizes will be awarded for the top 5 gardens chosen. Winners will be announced at 6:30 on Tuesday, July 25 at SNHL during the Shaler Garden Club meeting and an evening with Robert Mulvihill. Mr. Mulvihill has Master of Science degree in Biology from Indiania University He has been involved in ornithological research and writes biweekly articles for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette titled "Let's Talk About Birds". On behalf of the National Aviary located in Pittsburgh, Mr. Mulvihill conducts local birding tours. His topic wil be "Let's Talk About Backyard Birds". The public is invited to join us at 6:30 pm for the awards presentation and program to follow at 7:00 pm.

Why hide your gardening talent behind a fence? The Shaler Garden CLub and the Shaler North Hills Library want to honor your hard work and creativity. Please consider sharing your garden by participating in the Great Local Gardens Contest. Nominate friends, relatives, neighbors, students or community gardens. All nominees are welcome to enter this casual, fun contest.

How to enter: Submit 5 photos of your garden plus a description of what makes your garden special. Are you a vegetable gardener, herb gardener, container gardener? All types of gardens will be considered. We look at variety, use of space, use of materials and color. And we love a good story!
